14 days, 12 nights, 11 days snowboarding.

Stories for the rest of your life without having to exaggerate! The combination of terrain, snow, culture and the local people makes Gulmarg a place to visit at least once in your life!

We start this trip in Delhi, one of the largest cities in India. Here you have, depending on your arrival flight, some time to get used to the country and to explore this hectic city. On Sunday we leave Delhi and fly over the Himalayas towards Srinagar where a Jeep transfer is waiting to take us to Gulmarg.

Gulmarg is an area with one gondola that reaches about 4000m and the summit of Mt Apharwat a few hundred meters above that. Some bowls from the top have a straight 1200m vertical descent! The amount of terrain is virtually unlimited and includes bowls, chutes, open fields and dense forests. Furthermore, some unforgettable runs will go through local sanctuaries and villages, adding a whole new dimension to this Freeride Tour. After having spend 10 days exploring the best backcountry runs in Gulmarg with our local guide we have the opportunity to head out for an epic experience. If the snow conditions and the weather permits we have the possibility to spend the day heliskiing in the Himalayan backcountry. A modern helicopter brings us to amazing zones for 5 unforgettable, untouched descents down! To finish off the day we head to Srinagar and stay in a houseboat on the Dal Lake for the night. The next day we get to experience how the locals trade via wooden boats.

We end the trip back in Delhi where, if your flights allow, you can discover the city and have a final meal and drinks together.

    Day 1:
Depending on what time you arrive in Delhi you can choose to book a hotel near the airport and use the rest of the day to explore this hectic city. You can use the local TukTuk's to bring you to famous sightseeing spots like the Akshardham Temple or the Indian Gate. If your flight arrives into Delhi late you can choose to stay at the airport and wait for the flight to Srinagar the next morning.

    Day 2:
Sunday we'll all meet at the airport before boarding our flight to Srinagar. The flight to Srinagar is about 1.5 hr. Upon arrival there will be Jeeps waiting for us to drive us to Gulmarg. (about 3hrs) We'll stop on the way for some sightseeing and to buy some drinks and food/snacks for the week ahead. In Gulmarg there aren't many shops so buy smart.

    Day 3:
Today is a perfect day to get used to the high altitude and to warm up the muscles. We'll spend the day riding the controlled slopes beneath the 3 lifts Gulmarg has. At the end of the day a delicious dinner is waiting for you at the hotel.

    Day 4 - 11:
We start the first day with a short avalanche training/refreshment course before heading up the mountain. Each day we'll aim to be exploring different areas of this amazing mountain. With our local guide we'll decide each morning what our plan of attack is for the day and what areas we'd like to visit. The gondola and short hikes will bring us to new runs each time. Most of the runs have a vertical of more that 1000 meters!  Some of these runs end up near local temples or little towns where the Jeeps will be waiting for us to bring us back to either our hotel or back to the gondola.  At night, after relaxing/ apres drinks we'll enjoy a delicious Indian dinner at the hotel.

    Day 12:
If the weather permits and the snowpack is stable we'll spend today finding the best possible runs by helicopter. The view from the chopper flying through the Himalayas is breathtakingly beautiful and the 5 runs we'll do will be unforgettable. If the weather is bad we'll spend the day freeriding with our local guide. Maybe find some stashes that haven't been ridden before.
After the day riding we'll head back into the Jeep for the drive towards Srinagar where we'll stay in a traditional houseboat on Dal Lake. From here you can do a little boat cruise and see the locals trade their products in the middle of the lake. The view towards the mountains is also very beautiful.

    Day 13:
After spending the morning on Dal Lake or walking through Srinagar we'll head back tot he airport for our transfer to New Delhi. Depending on your flight home you can choose to book a hotel near the airport. Check in and spend the night exploring Delhi.

    Day 14:
After a great trip it's time to say goodbye to India and head back to the airport to make our flight back home..

Not enough? We can help you arrange further tours around India. Visit Mumbai or spend some extra days in New Delhi?
