Custom Tour – Gulmarg, India
Kashmir Ski Season January – March, 2020
Experience snow as you’ve never seen before with one of our custom Kashmir skiing or snowboarding tours.
India is not known for being a ski destination, in fact, when you will tell your friends you’re going to India to ski some unbelievable powder they will probably won’t believe you… At the end of your Gulmarg backcountry trip of Indian Kashmir, you’ll have stories to tell for the rest of your life! The terrain, amount of snow, the beautiful people and its culture make this an unforgettable backcountry trip!
You start this trip in Delhi, one of the largest cities in India, from where you’ll fly towards Srinagar. Here a Jeep transfer awaits to take you to Gulmarg. On the way, you’ll stop to buy some fresh fruits from the market and find a “secret” liquor store to stock up on boozy supplies.
Gulmarg is a resort with 1 chairlift and 2 gondolas reaching about 4000m. The summit of Mt. Apharwat is a few hundred meters above that. Some bowls from the top have a 1200m vertical descent! The amount of terrain is virtually unlimited. Furthermore, some unforgettable runs end at local villages, adding a whole new dimension to this backcountry tour. These runs will double the number of vertical meters you can do in a day. At the end of this amazing run, a 4×4 Jeep will be waiting to drive you back to the gondola or the hotel depending on time.
To finish off the last day you will head back to Srinagar and stay in a freshly renovated, traditional houseboat on the Dal Lake. Enjoy a nice dinner and experience how the locals trade via wooden boats before flying back to Delhi.
Discover Gulmarg before the masses do.

EXPERIENCE + GEAR
This tour is for the intermediate to experienced rider. Experience in deep snow is not necessary but recommended to get as much out of your holiday as possible.
The hotel is located at 2,650m altitude and most runs will start from around 4000m. Because some of these runs are accessible via hikes and start from this high altitude a good physical fitness is advised to prevent altitude sickness.
Because most of the runs are backcountry runs and are unpatrolled, backcountry equipment (backpack, beacon, shovel & probe) is a must!
A good waterproof but breathable jacket and pants with good layering is very handy. For example, consider the Beast series from Airblaster available at Behind The Pines in Amsterdam.
Must have a min of 3 people to operate.
